Freudenberg: Location and Statistics
The health resort Freudenberg is situated in central Germany between the hills of the "Rothaargebirge" and the Westerwald area in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district. The North-Rhine-Westphalian town has its own motorway exit which it can be easily reached from all directions via the A 45 motorway.
The nearest railway station is about 15 km away in Siegen, the administrative centre of the district. There is a regular bus service from there to Freudenberg (no. R38 or L153). Rail travellers from Cologne can get off the train in Kirchen/Sieg and continue to Freudenberg by bus (no. R41). Buses from there are not so frequent, though.
Freudenberg has a population of approx. 16,500 spread over an area of about 54.4 square kilometres. Two thirds of this area are comprised of deciduous and coniferous forest. The undulating countryside is between 243 and 505 m above sea level.
